Benefits of wearing sports shoes inside the house

You wear slippers inside the house for a number of reasons. Maybe because you do not like to walk barefoot inside the house, or the doctor recommended you to wear slippers.

Traditionally in India, we remove the shoes outside the homes and holy places. We consider it impure to walk in footwear inside the house.

There were pre footwear times, when people walked barefoot everywhere. For which nature designed your foot arch in such a way that you could walk on soft surfaces like soil. However now in this concrete world you have hard surfaces, on which walking barefoot is not comfortable for everyone. In addition the footwears you choose are stylish, and you give little consideration to giving comfort to our feet. There are different footwear for different occasions. For home, there are a variety of bedroom to bathroom slippers.

Why wear sports shoes inside the house?

Being a traditional person, I do not wear footwear inside the home. Even the guests remove their shoes at the door steps. According to studies, removing footwear outside the house is more of a tradition than any scientific reason. The germs that can enter homes from hands are much more than what a footwear can bring inside. Exchanging cash, keeping handbags at different public places invites germs home.

Here I am not discussing wearing shoes at home which were worn outside. I am talking about keeping a shoe exclusively to be worn inside the house.

I bought a sports shoe, two year ago, to walk in the park. But I did not wear it because the colour was too pink, which I did not like. So it was kept brand new.

Now as the climate is too wintery here, I wear woolen socks and slippers inside the house. The slippers were not providing enough protection from the cold. I could feel the biting cold pierce in through the rubber slippers. I was getting leg pain, which could elevate the arthritis condition. That is when I decided to make use of the shoes sitting idle and wear them inside the house.

Once a friend told me that when she went to a doctor for foot pain, he prescribed her a pair of footwear to walk inside the house, and no medicines. And it worked!

After wearing the shoes inside home for a few day, I thought I should share the benefits of walking in sports shoes inside the house with you. So that you can decide whether or not to wear sports shoes inside the house.

The feet stays warm

Modern day marble and granite floors are not suitable for people like me whose health condition takes a turn for the worst in winters. And in India we do use carpets to floor the entire house due to monetary reasons and climatic conditions. So I felt whenever I wore the shoes my feet were warm and comfortable. Because of the heel and cushion of the shoes you are safely 1 inch away from the icy floor.

You feel more active

Since the shoes are designed for sports, athletics and walking, you feel more athletic. During the three to four hours I spend in the kitchen I wear the sports shoes, and I feel that the work becomes fast. The reason could be that the legs move faster in an athletic shoe.

You feel like a professional with sports shoes inside the house

My day is divided between cooking and content creation (I will provide my daily schedule later in this post). So I wear the shoes when I work in the kitchen as well as doing my work in home office as a content creator. When I wear the shoes instead of a slipper, at the home office, my mental and physical outlook gets an uplift, whereby giving a boost to my professional output.

Provides good arch support

Arch support is an important aspect when you walk on hard surfaces like the marbles and granites inside the house. Nature has designed our feet with arches to walk on soft surfaces, which our ancestors did by walking barefoot in soil. Most of the footwear we choose are for style. Athletic shoes have inbuilt arch support provided as pad or other support that helps align the foot with the rest of the body and reduce pain.

Don’t feel tired fast

Once you wear athletic shoes and tie the lace, you need not worry about the foot. You have to walk cautiously in slippers because of the fear of the footwear slipping off. So the sports shoe keeps your mind free of pain. The cushiony, pain absorbing features of the shoes, helps keep your mind free and active to be productive in your professional work and household chores.

My daily schedule

I have three cycles of cooking and content creation. During all the three cycles I wear shoes to keep warm and efficient. Cooking one hour for breakfast followed by 3 hours of content creation. Cooking for lunch followed by 2 hours of content creation. 2 hours of content creation after evening coffee break followed by one hour lunch preparation.

Conclusion

Shoes and footwear are garments for feet. If you have health conditions that requires you to keep your feet warm, then you must find the best option to protect your feet.
