Did you get calls to claim unclaimed insurance?
Ashok (name change) got a call from an insurance agent, with the true caller showing the name of the insurance company. He was told that an 8 year old health insurance he did not claim, has grown ten fold, and now he should claim the amount.
Unfolding the unclaimed insurance story
The agents transferred the call to his boss, after providing a file number. Since Ashok did not believe the agents, he did not entertain the call.
However again after a month and a half they called and repeated the story once again. How can a person lie two times, that is what Ashok thought.
Besides, when he google, he saw that the insuranc company has a policy of giving bonus if a person is healthy and did not claim any insurance in one year. Next year 5% will be added to his insured amonut.
He went the the Insurance offices and they said the call was fake and that that hundereds of customer come with the same query.
He called the customer care, and they also said that the call was fake. They said that the callers get our detail by just putting the phone numer of the people on certain sites and they get few details.
Then they call the people, convince them and try to get more details about the person. The company says the calls are fake and the customers should not fall into the trap.
Ashok got a third all from the agents, again repeating the story. When he told them that he has verified the details with the company, they gave a conincing story saying that they were indeed genuine agents.
To conclude
When you get such convincing calls from agent, do some leg work. Instead of trying to do all the work by sitting in the comfor of the house, go the offices of the insurance providing company and try to find the facts from the fake.
